2026
Doug returned for his fourth Seventy48, racing solo again on his Stellar S18 Expedition G2. On May 29, 2026, he covered the classic 70-mile route from Tacoma, WA, to Port Townsend, WA, and finished in 15 hours and 38 minutes, first in single kayaks and 21st overall. 2025
Doug took on a big year, competing in both the WA360 and the Seventy48. For these challenges, he upgraded to a Stellar S18 Expedition G2, a high-performance kayak built for endurance.

The WA360 is a grueling 360(ish)-mile loop around the Puget Sound. Starting and ending in Port Townsend, the course winds south to Olympia, then heads north past Goat Island and Bellingham, reaching Point Roberts near the Canadian border before returning through the San Juan Islands to the finish line. 2024
Inspired by Doug’s 2023 Seventy48 finish, his wife Mary joined him for the 2024 race. To prepare, they invested in a Delta Traverse 17.5T, a tandem kayak designed for teamwork and performance. Mary had never competed in a long endurance race before, but she rose to the challenge with determination and enthusiasm. Not only did she help propel the kayak forward, she also took charge of organizing, logistics, and curating the perfect music playlist to keep spirits high. It was an incredible journey that showed our ability to work seamlessly as a team, overcoming the difficulties of such a demanding race together.
